Hi, I'm Susan. I'm the owner of Sweet Pickles. First and foremost I'm a happily married to my best friend, John, and I'm mama to three fantastic and sweet little girls, Sarah, Ellen and Anna.
In 2007 our family welcomed, Anna. It was quite a journey before her arrival, and she is an absolutely perfect fit to our family. When she was only days old I sat with her on our couch. She was wearing a green pajama outfit. I turned to her and said, "Hello, Anna banana." My daughter, Ellen, replied to me, "Not Anna banana, Mommy, Anna pickle. PICKLE!" The nickname stuck, and when I decided to create Sweet Pickles in March, 2008, it just seemed fitting to name the store after our sweet little pickle.
I was also introduced to baby wearing by a friend in 2007, prior to Anna's birth, and after a year of learning the ins and outs of baby wearing (and becoming totally hooked) I realized this was my passion. I never expected Sweet Pickles to become what it is today. It's awesome to know that I've had a part in spreading the babywearing bug across the world. Knowing all the families that are holding their babies close is a complete honor (and a lot of fun!). As with all things in life there is still so much to learn, and so many colors, fabrics and weaves to . I'm so excited to share the baby wearing love through Sweet Pickles.
I also created Baby Loss and Healing in August, 2006, after the loss of our sweet baby, Max. With honor an annual Baby Loss and Healing Memory Walk is hosted in Oregon and Ohio.
Baby Loss and Healing is dedicated to bringing support and information to families going through the loss of a baby, whether through chemical pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death in a positive and healing atmosphere. The support is offered to people of all walks of life, religious beliefs and cultures. The goal is to help in healing with compassion and respect.
In 2009, I met a friend, Kerry through Sweet Pickles. Her daughter, Abby, has knocked down the beast known as Cancer. My friendship with Kerry, and Abby's inspiration is what sparked Tingly Toes, a lending library of baby carriers for families of children fighting Cancer. The goal at Tingly Toes is to bridge the gap between the childhood cancer community and the babywearing community.
Thank you for you for visiting Sweet Pickles! Enjoy every moment with your babies, and enjoy holding them safe, close and comfortable!
Sincerely,
Susan Horn Owner, Sweet Pickles Founder, Baby Loss and Healing
